Help, my Indian Credit Card/ Debit Cards kept declining!
Updated this week

If you're experiencing issues with your Indian credit or debit cards while trying to make a payment, here are some key points to consider and potential solutions:

Unavailable Payment Options:

  • Google Pay and Apple Pay: Unfortunately, Google Pay and Apple Pay are not available for customers based in India when trying to make payments via Stripe. This limitation is due to regional restrictions on these payment services.

Rupay Card Limitations:

  • Declines on Stripe: If you are attempting to use a Rupay Card on Stripe, it's important to note that Rupay Cards are generally not supported by Stripe. This might be causing the transaction declines you are experiencing.

Internationally Accepted Credit/Debit Cards:

  • If your bank doesn't issue cards that are widely accepted internationally, you might face difficulties in using services like PayPal or Stripe. Typically, only cards associated with VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Maestro Debit Cards, and Discover are accepted for these international transactions.

  • Banks That Issue Internationally Accepted Cards: Some of the major Indian banks that issue cards accepted by international payment platforms include:

    • Axis Bank

    • HDFC Bank

    • IDBI Bank

    • ICICI Bank

    • Kotak Mahindra Bank

    • State Bank of India (SBI)

    • Indian Bank

Using Rupay Cards for International Payments:

  • Rupay cards can generally be used for international payments only if they are Global Rupay cards, which include a Discover or Diners Club logo printed on the back of the card. Additionally, ensure that international transactions are enabled on your card to facilitate overseas payments.

If you continue to experience payment issues despite following these guidelines, it may be beneficial to contact your bank for further assistance. They can provide more specific information regarding your card's international usability and help ensure that your payment method is set up correctly for online transactions.
