My Nigerian bank card isn't working, what can I do?

Updated over a week ago

🥜 In a nutshell:

Your Nigerian card not working may be an individual bank problem or a browser issue. You can troubleshoot by clearing browser cache, switching cards or reaching out to your bank or financial institution for specific support.

If you are experiencing difficulties making payments from Nigeria for one of our courses at EntryLevel, we understand that this might be due to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) restrictions on international payments.

To circumvent the CBN restrictions on international payments, we've provided Paystack as a payment method. Paystack is a Nigerian online payment processing platform which lets you make payments via your Nigerian debit cards, and generally provides a smooth payment experience for users in Nigeria.

If you are still experiencing issues with using your card with Paystack, here are some solutions to help you successfully complete your transaction:

Paystack Transfer option

  1. In cases where a card transaction is not working, you can opt to make a bank transfer instead by clicking on the 'Transfer' option. You will receive an OTP from your bank via SMS to complete the transaction; if it is taking some time to arrive, please keep trying as it might be due to an Internet downtime experienced by your bank.

Troubleshooting payment issues

If you encounter problems even when using Paystack, consider the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Browser issues:

    • Clearing browser cache: Sometimes, stored data in your browser can interfere with payment processing. If you're using Google Chrome, for example, you can clear your cache by clicking on 'More Tools' in the menu, then 'Clear Browsing Data'. Choose your time range, typically 'All Time', and make sure to check the boxes for 'Cookies and Other Site Data' and 'Cached Images and Files' before clicking 'Clear Data'.

    • Using incognito mode: Another effective method is using incognito mode, which can bypass some of the issues caused by browser extensions or cookies. You can open an incognito window by clicking on the menu button at the top right corner of your browser and selecting 'New Incognito Window', or by pressing 'Ctrl + Shift + N.'

  2. Bank/card issues:

    • Switching cards: If your current card is declining, try another one. Bank cards can sometimes have issues with specific transactions due to bank restrictions or technical problems. Using another card, whether yours or that of a family member or friend, can help bypass this issue. Remember, the card used does not impact your enrollment as long as the payment is successful and you made the pay while signed into your EntryLevel account with your own email address.

If issue persists

We aim to make your registration process as smooth as possible and appreciate your patience as we work through any payment challenges you may encounter. If you’ve tried these steps and still face issues, please do not hesitate to reach out to your bank or financial institution for specific support for your issue. If there's anything we can do to help your bank resolve the issue quickly for you, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team to ask for assistance.
